Vector, Vector, Read All About It: Rabies and Ticks 101
Learn how to care for patients with vector-borne illnesses.
Vector-borne illnesses, such as rabies and illness from tick bites, bring patients to the emergency department (ED) year-round. Nursing staff in the ED need to understand the symptomology and be prepared to provide proper treatment. This course will provide insight into patient presentations as well as appropriate treatments for some of the most common vector-borne illnesses.

- Discuss the transmission of rabies and tick-borne illnesses
- Justify the care and treatment of the patient presenting to the ED with a suspected rabid animal bite and gain knowledge of rabies post-exposure prophylaxis
- Recognize symptomology while focusing on Lyme Disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever
