Become aware of the signs and symptoms of sepsis in the Emergency Department.
Evidence shows that early recognition of sepsis may shorten the patient's length of stay and improve patient outcomes. This course will make you aware of the signs and symptoms of sepsis, discuss the importance of your role as an ED nurse in fighting sepsis, and review which patients are more vulnerable to becoming septic.

1. Discuss the signs and symptoms of sepsis, and how early recognition can facilitate diagnosis and treatment
2. Identify management strategies for patients demonstrating signs and symptoms of sepsis
3. Recognize appropriate nursing interventions and care for the sepsis patient
