Pregnancy Complications - 1 CE Credit - $10
This course will explain the medical care necessary for a pregnant patient experiencing complications in the Emergency Department. Pathophysiological changes that occur during pregnancy will be discussed, as well as nursing interventions that will promote stable vitals and adequate organ perfusion for the woman. Specific complications seen in pregnancy such as preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome will be reviewed, and the correlating assessment findings, interventions and treatment options will be explained.
1. List three ways in which vital signs may differ in a pregnant patient
2. Recognize signs of preeclampsia and identify the proper plan of care
3. Select interventions for a pregnant trauma patient that encourage stabilization
