This course will enable learners to refresh on the foundational basis of pharmacology and relate it to cardiovascular emergencies. The mechanism of actions of medications will be explained, applying them to situations that are commonly seen in critically ill patients.
1. Define the basics of pharmacology
2. Explain processes that increase or decrease cardiac contractility, conductivity or heart rate
3. Discuss the mechanism of action of medications used in cardiovascular emergencies
