Review the signs and symptoms of endocrine disorders to best care for pediatric patients.
This course will review the pathophysiology of selected pediatric endocrine emergencies and the complications that can occur. The emergency nurse will be able to recognize the subtle signs and symptoms of specific endocrine disorders and guide a further assessment accordingly. Based on assessment findings, the nurse will initiate critical and appropriate interventions to maintain adequate oxygenation and perfusion to the pediatric patient presenting to the emergency department with an endocrine emergency.

- Review, compare and contrast the role and functions of the pancreatic endocrine hormones
- Discuss the role of the adrenal cortex hormones
- Reflect on the posterior pituitary hormone, antidiuretic hormone (ADH), and its primary functions
