Introduction to Oncologic Emergencies
Be prepared to care for patients with cancer in the ED.
This course will introduce common cancer emergencies that emergency nurses may encounter in their practice, as well as provide tools and resources to better prepare emergency nurses to care for patients with cancer in their practice setting. The course reviews triage and discusses special cancer considerations. It will also review high-frequency and high-risk clinical scenarios and provide the opportunity to practice the application of oncologic emergency principles.

Review the different types of cancer as well as considerations for the ED nurse to explore
Review the various triage considerations for patients presenting to the ED who have a cancer diagnosis
Reflect key treatment considerations for many common ED chief complaints seen in individuals battling cancer
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider # CEP17490 for 1.5 contact hours
