Female Genitourinary Emergencies
Review female genitourinary anatomy and prepare to care for medical and traumatic injuries.
This course will enable the ED nurse to concentrate on the female population and the common diseases involving the reproductive and the genitourinary systems. Patients frequently present to the ED with complaints of pelvic pain. This course will foster the nurse's ability to synthesize the components of the patient's complaints and form an impression of the patient's overall condition. The diagnostic and therapeutic interventions are also discussed to guide the emergency nurse in caring for these patients.

Discuss the anatomy and physiology of the female reproductive and genitourinary systems, including maternal changes brought about by pregnancy
Enumerate genitourinary diseases among female patients that are commonly encountered in the emergency department, including implementing appropriate interventions
Explain common obstetric emergencies and list appropriate interventions
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider # CEP17490 for 1.5 contact hours
