Brains, Drains and Head Trauma
Neurologic emergencies require time-sensitive treatment and astute nursing recognition. This course will take a step-by-step approach to the recognition and treatment of patients with traumatic brain injuries. This course will also discuss the anatomy and physiology of the brain, and how this has an impact upon intracranial pressure and cerebral perfusion pressure.

Recognize brain injuries, as well as the implications of the Monro-Kellie Doctrine and CO2 on the brain
Summarize neurosurgical intervention of the external ventricular drain, as well as basic set-up, complications, expectations and tips and tricks
