Compared to adults, pediatric patients are more prone to head injury. In fact, recent U.S. data shows brain injury amongst children ages 0-19 accounts for an estimated 564,000 emergency department visits per year. Unlike adults, the brains of these children are still developing and outcomes can result in a spectrum of challenges. This webinar offers a brief review of growth and development of the pediatric brain, while highlighting the pathophysiology of traumatic brain injury in pediatric patients. Webinar attendees will utilize a real-life case study to detail evidence-based interventions recommended to care for such a vulnerable population.
